Bloom is an online community and subscription box service created by graphic designer women for graphic designer women.

Women may have come a long way since the turn of the century, but there is plenty of work to be done both in society and our creative industry. Within the Otis MFA Graphic Design program, where Bloom’s three founding members met, 11 out of the 12 students were female. Otis wasn’t the only school with femme majority. According to the US Department of Education, colleges and universities have seen a shift in their student bodies where women are the majority. How is it that there are so many women pursuing higher education, getting their degrees, and racking up qualifications, yet 97% of creative directors in our field are men. Women want more for themselves as the women before us did. We refuse to accept the conditions taking over modern women in creative fields – that sickening need to prove ourselves to be the hardest of all hard workers, but “at what expense?”, we must ask, “Can we defeat this together?”

Bloom started when we asked ourselves:

What do our hearts, souls, and minds need as we navigate the creative field?

How do we stay inspired, motivated, and sane?
